Answer 2

EQ= What is the best way to learn a second language?
Answer 2= Motivation is the key to learning a second language
Evidence=
  1. There are two types of motivation instrumental and Intregitive motivation. intregitive is to actually wanting to study the language while instrumental is to have it for a neccesity.
  2. A child is most likely to learn because of their motivation of acquiring things before the age of 5. Compared to an adult, some lack motivation and just want to learn it as a neccesity.
  3.  Even when babies are learning their first language, it means that they want to learn it and start out by mimicking and babbling and so motivation is there too.

The Product

As going through language acquisition as my senior topic, I've come across things i would never think of. Like for example the first time i was learning to speak or learning a second language. The very first time I learned to read and when i actually learned the spanish alphabet. As I grew older, i had to translate for my parents or people that asked me for directions or things like that. When my mom was learning english she would tell me to help her out in pronunciating the words and i couldnt help her because i would laugh too much. But at the same time she would laugh at me when i would say things in spanish that i couldnt say right. Today i want to learn different languages and i know pronunciating will be something hard to get at. So for my product i would say being in the learners shoes and knowing what it feels like. I kind of experienced it with learning the numbers in italian because the c is not pronounced as how we pronounce it in english and knowing how to say it correctly. And i know that it will take a while to get used to the language and i will have to go through that if i want to learn another language which i do really want to.

Independent Component 2 Plan Approval

1. I want to actually teach a child to learn a second language or help improve their languages (if two), and see how far the child goes during this process. I plan to use a 3 year old child that i know and help him improve and actually learn words instead of mimiking it.

2. By  meeting the 30 hours I plan to work with the child for that time with starting off with the alphabet and numbers. i will also get the child to write the stuff down so that he is learning to write and hear the word at the same time. Then i will advance to other things like addition, subtraction, short and long sounds with the vowles.

3. This realtes to my eq because its "what is the best way to learn a second language?" and im helping a child to understand both of his languages and at the same time improving his second language and is always better to start young in teaching or helping a child something because they get a better grasp of the topic or what they are learning.
